DeWolff is a psychedelic rock band from the Dutch province of Limburg. It was founded in Geleen in 2007 and consists of Pablo van de Poel, his brother Luka van de Poel, and Robin Piso. DeWolff won first prize in the national finals of the Kunstbende competition in 2008. It was the first band in the event’s history to receive no criticism from the jury. After being discovered by Ron Engelen (REMusic Records), they signed a recording contract in August 2008. In the meantime, they performed live numerous times at Amsterdam's Paradiso. In 2010, they played their first international shows, notably in Belgium and Germany. The year 2011 saw growing international interest in DeWolff, with performances in France (Nancy, Rouen), Hungary (Sziget, Budapest), and Italy (Live Rock Festival, Siena). In 2012, they followed up with more shows in France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Poland. In November 2011, DeWolff signed a record deal with GoSet Music, which released the single Do Not You Go Up The Sky and the album Orchards / Lupin in Australia and New Zealand. On May 8, 2012, the album was released in Italy by the label OTRLive / Universal. DeWolff has released one EP and eight studio albums, along with four live albums. All of them have also been issued on vinyl. The vinyl EP features live tracks on side B. At the end of 2011, a documentary about DeWolff’s tour was broadcast on Dutch television. In December 2011, the live album Letter God was released (including the lyrics of all previously published recordings), along with the CD and DVD Live at Lowlands. It is now available in all good bookstores and record shops. After several months in the studio, the album DeWolff IV was released on June 8, 2012. The B-side of this album can be seen as an "opera" of five interconnected songs. To promote DeWolff IV, concerts were held in the largest clubs and festivals in the Netherlands. Internationally, they appeared on major stages at the Arezzo Wave Festival (Italy) and the Zappanale Festival in Bad Doberan (Germany), as well as shows in Australia, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Russia. Their next album, Grand Southern Electric, was released on May 2, 2014, and was recorded in America. Since 2015, DeWolff has run its own label called Electrosaurus Records, whose first release was a double live album entitled Live & Outta Sight. Following that, on February 5, 2016, the album Roux-Ga-Roux was released, recorded in DeWolff's 100% analog studio, Electrosaurus Southern Sound Studio. This album was entirely produced, recorded, and mixed by DeWolff themselves. Their seventh album, Thrust, was released on May 4, 2018. The album contains 11 songs. On February 11, 2019, DeWolff won an Edison Award in the “Best Rock Album” category. In 2019, the band appeared alongside Tim Knol, Stefan Wolfs, Merel Sophie, Coal Harbour, and David Gram in the Next Of Kin project led by the Rotterdam-based band Dawn Brothers. In 2020, they released their eighth album Tascam Tapes, which was mostly composed and recorded during the Thrust tour using minimal equipment. In September of the same year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the band performed four concerts at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam, accompanied by the Amsterdam-based Metropole Orkest. This resulted in a double live album released in December, limited to 500 copies.
